UniFi Planner for your Home

We have an easy guide and design tool, to help you build your ideal UniFi home network and security solution.

UniFi network planner on monitor showing WiFi heatmap, with router, switch, and cameras on desk.

Tell the planner about your home and what you want it to do. It picks the UniFi parts that fit, sizes the switch and recorder to match, and estimates cabling and installation time in pounds or dollars.

Size sets how many access points you need and how long the cable runs are. Wall construction changes WiFi range and how long each run takes to install.

Internet and WiFi

Your UniFi gateway takes over from your provider's router. Faster lines need a faster gateway.

Each is a cable run to a wall socket.

Cameras and front door

Most homes cover the front with bullet cameras and the back garden with a single G6 180 in a corner. Tell us how long to keep footage and we size the recorder and drives to match.

Alarm and sensors

These are wireless SuperLink devices on batteries, so they need no cabling. One SuperLink Gateway serves the whole house.

Battery-powered, up to ten years per battery.
Temperature, humidity, light and water leaks.
Outside temperature and humidity. Site it somewhere sheltered, such as a porch.
Essential for healthy air at home. Measures PM2.5 and other fine particles (PM1 to PM10), CO2, VOCs and NOx, plus temperature and humidity, and detects vaping. PoE-powered, so each one needs a cable run.

File storage

Optional network storage for family photos and computer backups. Camera recordings are planned separately and included already.

Your parts and labour

Parts

Your parts list appears here once the planner has loaded.

Why these parts

  • The reasons behind each choice appear here once the planner has loaded.

Labour

Your labour estimate appears here once the planner has loaded.

What the estimate covers

  • Equipment prices are based on Ubiquiti's own UK and US store prices, checked 8 October 2026, and include our supply and handling charge. UK prices include VAT. US prices include Ubiquiti's tariff and memory surcharges, before sales tax.
  • Cable is priced by the metre from 305 m boxes, including our supply and handling charge, with 10% added for offcuts. Outdoor runs use UniFi Outdoor Cable (Cat5e, 24 AWG, foil-shielded with a UV-resistant jacket); indoor runs use UniFi Cat6 (23 AWG).
  • Labour is £85 an hour plus VAT in the UK and $120 an hour in the US. A camera averages 2.5 hours including an 18 m cable run. Stone outside walls, brick or block inside walls and extra floors all add time.
  • Allowances, not store prices: the NVMe drive for compact gateways, connectors and fixings for each cable run, and the UK prices of 8 TB and 16 TB drives, which come from a UK distributor because Ubiquiti's UK store does not list them.
  • Recording storage assumes 267 GB a day for each 4K camera recording round the clock, and about 30% of that when recording on motion, the same figures as our UniFi Protect storage calculator. Real use varies with the scene and camera settings.
  • Not included: trenching or ducting to a gate, new mains sockets or spurs, locksmith work on multipoint doors, making good and decorating, a patch panel, and broadband or subscription charges. The network cabinet is included only if you choose it.
