Most growing companies will eventually see the need to move their email services to a professional business platform for reliable email delivery, secure email accounts and a synced file environment for all users. The most widely used platform is Office 365, which is also now known as Microsoft 365 Cloud. Moving to the full Microsoft 365 platform allows for seamless integration from the Windows login security right through to your files and email services. You can also avoid paying for additional servers and maintenance costs that you no longer need.

How long does it take to migrate email to Office 365?

Typically about one to two hours per mailbox, depending on the size and whether the mailbox contains nested folders or unusually named folder structures that need manual intervention.

How long does it take to migrate data to Microsoft 365 OneDrive or SharePoint?

This depends on how many files you have and their size. OneDrive has a soft limit of 100,000 files, which gives nice quick sync speeds; you can push it to 300,000 files, at which point things slow down and become problematic. There is also a maximum upload limit per day when performing the first sync, and internet speed plays a major factor. Typically it takes one to three days.

Can I migrate to Office 365 myself?

It can be tricky, but if it's an account or two you might be able to do it yourself. However, it is easy to get into a mess, which means your emails can go missing — or you might discover later that a fair percentage of your emails went missing after the migration. We do this often, which means we know all the shortfalls that most other IT companies or individuals encounter in this process.

What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 365?

Office 365 is technically your cloud office system: Microsoft Office, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and OneNote. Microsoft 365 is the bigger picture, which includes Office 365, the Windows operating system and all the other 365 family products.
